Modern Hill Avenue was the culmination of our client’s vision and her passion for local wood products coming together. A single parent, our client was able to build her dream home for her and her son to enjoy – and we are thankful to have gone on that journey with their family!
The steep grade of the lot presented multiple challenges that we were able to work together on to turn into opportunities featuring wide city views and a stunning custom wood, metal and glass staircase that ties the height of the home together. White walls are backdrop to our client’s gorgeous art and furniture collection – the home remains warm and welcoming even as a bastion of calm and collected. Seamless oak wood cabinets and luxe appliances make the kitchen functional and artful.
Our client is a wood salesperson with a beautiful product line of locally sourced wood products. Black cedar Shakertown shingles are a dramatic accent on the exterior – tongue and groove Dolly Varden engineered cedar soffits and ceilings on the interior are warm against the white walls and concrete panels. Concrete siding panels are echoed on the interior with concrete overlays floor to ceiling on the living room fireplace. Wood accents echo throughout – engineered cedar wood ceilings, cedar cove shingles in dramatic black, custom wood stairs – really pop against concrete floors, concrete overlay panels on the full height fireplace and drywall returns.
Construction of Modern Hill Avenue was a journey together from breaking ground with our client’s son in the excavator to sharing wine together at the housewarming!
I worked with Lacey Construction on building a modern custom home which turned out beautiful. I had a vision and they delivered! I am now in the process of working with them on an inverted coach house, can’t wait to see how that turns out!
